Mounting looks like the simplest work a handyman does and produces the most expensive failures. A television that comes off a wall takes the drywall with it and lands on whatever is below. The difference is entirely in whether the mount caught framing and whether the fastener was rated for the load.
Where there is no stud in the right place, there are proper answers — toggle anchors rated for the weight, or a backer board spanning two studs. What there is not is a reasonable case for hanging something heavy on plastic anchors and hoping.
